Subsidise and you will find

It seems that many of our car manufacturers are going the hybrid route to an electric vehicle. Some are even starting to look good and have good performance.

New concept cars include these beauties. Click images for details.

It makes sense really they get the subsidies, the backing of the people and they also get to make cars that still work albeit with some changes so heir reputations are maintained.

I wonder how long it will be before the whingy whiney greens object to having petrol engines in these cars and they are forced to go electric only. I don’t think we are nearly ready for that yet.

However, I have to admit I didn’t think we were anywhere near cars like this yet. In 20 years time I think we will be all electric and petrol cars will cease to exist except in museums. There will be no fuel to run them. Until someone sets up conversion kits for them.

Petrol heads time seems to be coming to an end quicker than I thought it would and it isn’t consumers or peak oil that is making the change but politicians and people behind politicians. This must be the biggest change imposed on us this way. Makes me a little concerned about the rest of their agenda. Electric cars are a good idea, recycling what you can makes sense but the rest of their agenda isn’t so good. Will we stop in time?

State snooping

Already the UK and the US sneakily and immorally, although borderline legally, tap into and record data on everyone’s browsing habits, Emails and contact details using the excuse of preventing terrorism.

All this and there are still areas that they cannot get into but never fear there is a proposal in the new Soviet State US that will correct this. It matters not that that will still leave holes and that the bad guys will use different ways. It isn’t their money they are wasting.

Of course we don’t need one in the UK because if this gets through then the US will share the data and if it doesn’t we don’t have the clout to get them to install the backdoors.

I wonder how long these governments can keep spending money they don’t have on systems that are there just to oppress their citizens in the current economic climate?

In the meantime though we need Phil Zimmerman, or someone like him, to get back working on his Zfone application and enhance it for our new generation of smart phones. The oppressed people of the world need it.

Designing inferiority

It seems strange to me that people would deliberately design and build an inferior product when they could easily build a standard or even better one. This product, the Digital Harinezumi 2++, is a camera with a mere 2MegaPixels and poor video with poor sound. Standard now is MP4 video, 12MP and excellent sound.

Now I understand that companies do not always want to spend money making the latest and greatest only to find three seconds after it is put up for sale a competitor is releasing a better model. But there is a market for a standard cheaper model which many seem to be happy to build for. So expensive camera with all the bells and whistles for those with the money that wants the best and need it or cheaper camera that is pretty standard for those that just want to take snaps. If I want a camera with a lot less resolution than I can get on a cheap webcam then there are plenty out there on the second hand market.

Of course it is all about marketing. These are aimed at that niche market where they have money, prefer not to conform and are willing to spend to make a point. Alternativly that is the only market that will buy goods that have variable and inconsistant quality of output. What a fantastic marketing ploy. Cheap manufacture with minimal quality standards and selling for a high price. Are they using Apple’s new marketing technique?

Of course there is a problem with this constant progression. I had a 4MP camera that was brilliant and did everything I wanted. Picture size was not too bad either and I was very happy with it. The battery charger is missing and I looked at new cameras instead as you do. Now they are 12MP and take up a lot more disk space as they do plus you need a years training to understand all the buttons and settings for the functions available. It even allows editing of the videos it takes. How much further can the home photographer who just wants snaps of the kids growing up go?

So I can understand why someone wants a less advanced product. I see a market for something around 6MP, with excellent video and sound. Basic setup and controls where all the editing can be performed on the home computer. That would make a nice standard, not use too much disk space and yet give excellent quality for us amateur users. Bear in mind that doesn’t mean stagnation as the latest and greatest could have the facility to take their 20MP pictures and output them as 6MP. Professional users can continue on with the mad dash for more MP for their work.

This of course leaves the market still open for those that are happy to buy a 2MP status symbol that nobody but themselves will ever understand. Next we will be looking at a old style Box Brownie. If so then why not build your own pinhole camera and go all the way.

Now this is really planning ahead

Well it seems like some one in our world government either knows something or has a true believe in preparing for all eventualities.

It seems that there is an entire department at the UN which is tasked with preparing for first contact with aliens. So either it is preparing us for meeting with our true lords and masters via a not all lizards are bad campaign or it is just covering even the most unlikely of bases.

Being the UN though I bet all their protocols will involve talking. Nothing will be in there regarding resisting if they come looking for human stew. I think I would like to see some input from someone who doesn’t have a career in bullshit. Not all aliens are nice and if you are going to be prepared then lets ensure we are.

Although it will be boring reading their annual reports. ‘Annual report no 12. Still no contact with aliens. Well, that is it for this year. See you next year. Thanks for coming. Canapes are over on the right with the champers. Thanks again for the funding.’

Why time machines cannot be possible

If they were possible then where are all the time machines from the future?

Let me start by saying that I do believe in time travel. After all we are travelling forward in time and it is understood that there are places in the universe where you can slow or speed up the process. I am also of the belief that we will eventually have advanced enough to control the rate of passage and also be able to slow it enough to give the impression of stopping time on demand. A stasis field if you must. Imagine that, you have a cupboard where time is effectively stopped. Put your shopping in close the door and when you open it the next day everything is as it was when the door was closed even down to the live lobster or mussells. Keep your veggies fresh and stock up in season. Badly injured and bleeding out then stasis in the ambulance until they get you to the hospital. Adjusting time would be good as well. Bake some cakes, pop in the machine dial forward 30 mins and eat cool almost straight away. Screw up the antiques business but such is life.

However, despite the theories that abound and the mathematically manipulation that can be performed to show we can go back in time I do not believe it is possible. Having a mathematical proof does not a practical model make. The main reason I do not think they are possible is that if a time machine was invented someone, or something, would have visited by now. Here or in the past. We would have seen some evidence somewhere that something we all know and love must be from another time. Why are we not seeing any evidence of something? Is there is a Time Cop type force out there? If so how do they identify true advances from artificial ones? Could it be because there is somethings from the future being sold but they are doing it carefully and slowly. I just don’t see it. Advances in power generation alone would mean they could control the world. What more could they want?

Yet we don’t see anything. Ergo, it is not possible to travel back in time.

Pity really because I would have loved to go back to the moment in time when Dave Milliband realised that despite being the clear favourite all the way through the Labour leadership process his brother had pipped him at the finishing line by just over 1%. His face must have been priceless. I would have paid good money to watch that moment. Damn those laws of physics Scotty.

Lie detectors and a greedy state

I thought that the Stasi had moved out of No 10 but this idea must make even the dumbest Cameron supporter see that they made a big mistake voting for him.

The proposal that small business owners and high earners face lie detector tests may be a vote winner for the whingy whiney Liberals and Cameron’s band of useless hangers on but it is not going to be popular with true conservatives and the actual people that keep the economy going, the small businesses and investors. They seem to think that there is a vast untapped reservoir of cash that people are avoiding paying tax on if only they were able to take the gloves off. Obviously fixing the economy is beyond them so they have to persecute the tax payers.

The biggest problem with this is it won’t work. Lie detectors are notoriously inaccurate. They actually measure stress and who is not under stress whilst being interrogated by the State. There will be many businesses driven to the wall because the State will think they are being denied their bit of fat on their pound of flesh. Already it is too much.

Of course they can’t do this with big business. The reason is that the FD is insulated from the day to day running and unless he knows he is lying he won’t trigger the lie detector. It will take a complete audit to detect anything there. Too much work for the Stasi.

Thinking on the plus side though. This will spawn a new industry for born liars. They can teach business owners how to pass the lie detector tests or, for a fee, actually act as a representative of the business. Seems to me like they are creating a new work area ideal for unemployed politicians.

In the meantime brush up and practise before the Stasi come calling.

Only problem is that the fix for this is to waterboard people. After all according to our government its fine because the intention is not to kill. Death is an unfortunate accident. HMRS must already be gearing up for that. The people they already have will be fine, they have the mentality, just need to buy the waterboarding equipment.

All hail the State.

To cool to LEGO

Sorry about the title.

It seems LEGO has made it after all. It has been used by ESA to make a model demonstrating the Rosetta mission.

I’m wondering if there is any truth in the rumour NASA is using Meccano.

We can rebuild you

Our bones are made of a porous material that is strong, light and slightly flexible to obsorb impacts, breaking when the pressure becomes too much. For a long time now shattered or missing (Yes, they do go missing) bones were replaced by solid plate or rods. These give us the function back we want but are not exact replacements.

Now it appears we can have titanium bone replacements that use porous titanium to give the same benefits as bone. Strong yet flexible and very similar in construct.

Of course its breaking point and flexibility will not be exactly the same as bone but think of the benefits. We could have this installed on to our rib cages and our heads as armour. If we could get this done without surgery think of the people who would love to have the protection of this. Soldiers, police, firemen, divers, etc.

All we need is the nuclear power pack and we are close to building our bionic man. Only he won’t be 6 million dollars.

The future of Western medicine

It seems that a batch of the Obamacare upgrades is being rolled out in Zambia first.

Won’t be long before these are rolled out in the West as budget cuts hit and £200K managers look at reducing costs without impacting themselves or their peers.

To be honest though it surprises me that they don’t already have something like this in Africa. How many collections did I drop money into that were buying 4×4′s to serve as ambulances over there. They should have one each by now. I would have thought that they should be further ahead than this. It just goes to show what a waste of money our aid is.

I suppose I should be careful. At the rate our government is screwing us over we may need to put our hands out to get some of these soon.

A load of hot air

It seems that yet again I’ve been scammed by marketing spiel. I always thought that these hot air dryers were better at cleaning your hands but it appears not.

Sadly for the tree huggers it appears that the old ways are still the best. Expect growth in the paper towel industry, growth in the tree huggers squeals and our greedy government implementing some sort of towel tax to appease the whingey whiney greens.

We have always known that technology is not always the answer. It seems that in the basics little technology is. Next thing will be the vibrating toothbrushes will cause whiplash or something. We should all use sticks instead. I’ll check with Granny first though.
