Like all Government departments the DPR seems to be pretty useless. The NHS holds all the data we actually do consider to need protection, it is all really personal and priviledged, we would expect special care to to be taken. But No. yet again, we read of a break of our trust and find that a full quarter of all data breaches come from the NHS.
The Register says it all forme ‘ICO warns, again. Surely that’ll work this time‘
Of course we know it won’t, Government entities paying fines to other Government entities never works because nobody feels any pain. The reason private firms fix the problem is that they make less money, paying the fine, and someone has paid, either by losing a promotion, a bonus or in some cases being fired.
Until Government employees start feeling the pain of their mistakes. Not just in data protection then nothing will improve.
In the meantime the DPR is very another tax on the productive side of society.

Until Government employees start feeling the pain of their mistakes. Not just in data protection then nothing will improve.
How would Cherie feel about this?
James,
I have no idea. Probably think it needs done but under some sort of central control which negates the whole thing.
