Well although this one is not calling for us to clamp down even more on our freedoms or stealing our cash which makes a nice change it seems that solar panels have a detrimental effect on wildlife.
They mimic the surface of water to many insects and lure them to the panels where the eventually die of exhaustion. The fear is that their loss will impact the already fragile ecosystems we have in places like the desert. Read the full story here.
Well, well, interesting isn’t it. Despite all that work it appears that it isn’t as bad as they thought. The panels can be modified to counter the effect and guess what most panels already have those modifications. So why the emotive headlines?
I am seriously beginning to question how much we spend on studies like this where we have a very emotive and emotional headline followed by a story about nothing. When I was a kid we were taught science was observe, conclude, test and repeat, repeat, repeat and always question. Now it seems to be just money for old rope and I want some. I have a proposal to check where bears perform their bodily functions. Should be worth at least £250K.

There’ve been a couple of bad examples of these “scientific” studies recently such as the lesbian one.
Well it seems to me that many ‘scientists’ are not scientists at all but political agitators.
Unless science rids itself of these people then it will lose peoples respect, it is happening now, as science will suffer significant harm.
On the plus side, I’m still looking for a grant. I have several key projects that need investigation. I understand the Pope is religious and we need to investigate that. Bears have to go somewhere. We need to find out where and, more importantly, womens boobs are different from mans boobs. That surely is worthy of a full years research.
