There is a proposal going around to create a UN type body looking after Science. Read here.
Like the UN itself it sounds a good idea on paper. An independent global body to prioritise research and scientific endeavour to improve the human race.
Sadly, it shows its true potential in the very first sentence.
As the disappointment of the Copenhagen climate summit sinks in
Like the UN itself it is clearly not going to be any use at all. It will be full of self serving bureaucrats who are just looking after their own agendas and promoting a liberal whingy whiney agenda.
Another one. When will it end?

A typical example of how NOT to do it.
The only way science and engineering will advance is when governments keep their noses out. We had a much greater advance in Victorian times just because the scientists and inventors were allowed to get on without interference from some government quango or two.
Organizations, like the one mentioned, are by their very being political and always will be. And we’ve all seen the results of that!
Not only that but it fits into the UN global planning which we do not wish to encourage.
I don’t seeit happening. There is a case for the UN but not this.
