I always envisaged skateboards and their grown up cousins snowboards to be kids toys. Not something I was ever interested in trying, they came about after I was a kid, because they were so toy like.
Now it appears they are all grown up. Here are powered units that can hit 60 kph and can even go over rugged terrain. Kids will love them but in the PC age where we are wrapping everyone in cotton wool do you think this is a sensible product to try and market? It seem to me to be more suited to military use than for the public so I foresee some new laws out soon like they did with quad bikes.
In the meantime these should enable teenagers to let off some steam on the pavements and roads. The car theft rate should go down a bit because these will be much more of a thrill.
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. — Arthur C. Clarke (1917 – 2008)
