A nice plan but it appears not to have given the expected results. The plan, to crash two obsolete spacecraft into the moon which would eject debris into space and allow us to examine moon debris for signs of water. Sadly, the plan didn’t work out as expected. Sure the spacecraft crashed as expected but the expected plume did not occur.
But as usual with science the failures are just as good as the real thing and we will be examining the data from the instruments and should learn something from that.
At the very minimum we have learnt that what we think of the surface of the moon is wrong.
In Space no one sees you crash
