● Look at the impact on our society of changes such as fewer menial jobs
Whenever there is change there is fear. People do not like it and thus we must look ahead and try and alleviate these issues.
I foresee several issues with the objectives I have listed.
Improving health care will mean people will live longer and thus put pressure on food, water and living space resources. Retirees will live longer on their pensions. (If they have any after Gordo has finished with them)
Changing the transport facilities will mean that people will suddenly find their old cars out of date. They won’t link with the new system and will be obsolete. So many going at once will kill the second hand market for old style cars.
I’m sure there will be many people who will be concerned about moving underground. Bit like the Morlocks in The Time Machine by HG Wells. Of course it will never come to that but moving underground may seem unnatural. In addition exactly how are we going to handle to homes on the surface. They will not have much value after all.
As robots will be able to perform all the menial tasks what will most of the unskilled in our society do. Personally I see them being better off as the can pursue other activities but that is just my thoughts. It will also mean that money will become less of an issue and how exactly will that work? If people can have a home, be fed and do what they want why would anyone need to work? Star Trek has this as a system but never really explains how it works. Well now we need too.
Personally I have no idea how it will work out with no money as I can’t imagine a society not using it but one thing is certain it needs to be addressed. Perhaps money will always been needed it’s just that for some people there would be no need to have any as they would be happy with the basics.
